VOICES OF REASON

It is increasingly becoming clear that all voices of reason in kenya want ; integrity, fairness, peace, liberty and freedom. it is also clear that most kenyans agree that mwai kibaki is not legitimately in state house. One such voices of reasonis a nother nairobi lawyer among many who think that kibaki should let kenyans chart their own future by choosing the leaders of their choice democratically and not through deceit.

This is going to be a tool to chronicle the incidents (of post 2007 general election) violence happening around Kenya. That is the basic premise behind it.

Ushahidi.com - A Tool to for Witnesses of violence in Kenya

Ushahidi.com is a tool for people who witness acts of violence in Kenya in these post-election times. You can report the incident that you have seen, and it will appear on a map-based view for others to see. Ory and Daudi are working with local Kenyan NGO’s to get information and to verify each incident.

What you can do is get the word out about Ushahidi so that it’s utilized to it’s full potential. This especially extends to talking to the people that you know who have seen things in Kenya and getting them to the site as well.

At the beginning of a project like this the technology portion can seem to be the hardest to get off the ground. In the end, it’s just the tool, and the hard work will come from people in the field who are working with ngo’s and other groups to keep this information accurate and to chronicle as much of it as they can. If you want to help, get in touch with Daudi or Ory to get started.

When all the dust settles from this in Kenya, don’t be one of the ones saying, “I should have done something”.

IS KENYA OFFICIALLY UNDER DICTATORSHIP?

Taking a look at the unfolding events surrounding the flawed Dec.27-2007 general election and given the current efforts by both the local and international community one would think that both parties are genuinely involving themselves to solving the country's problem. And if you think the current occupant of Kenya's state house is and should be apart of the efforts in this CRISIS then, it's looking pretty clear that those thoughts might be mistaken. The guy, save for the cries and outrage that this election is in dispute and therefore should be solved first before going forward. He has reconstituted his dream cabinet. Which is wanting to say the least and speaks volumes.

CURRENT KENYA CRISIS

I am finding most of the international media portraying the current crisis as "a minority Luos vs majority Kikuyus". it is sad and pathetic and i think we need to rise up and get the truth out there. It is important that news organizations get it right. That, the real truth is not minority Luos vs majority Kikuyus thing i.e tribal affair, it is complicated, it is a country rising up to demand the fundamental basic human right and certainly not what it appears to be on the surface . But then, it cannot be more obvious, like in the Rift valley where the church was torched and scores of people where.... children, women and young men lost their lives. I didn't think it's a Raila's Luo who did it as it has been conveniently referred to. How about other places like Mombasa, Eldoret, Kakamega, Kericho, etc..etc? The fact of the matter is, it portrays a simmering resentments by other groups that have been going on for so long, it just needed a spark or lighter to get the fire started...all the ingredients were already there and this made it. It's a small window showing a society that is sick and tired of the current situation. By no means am I suggesting that this kind of bloodletting 's the right way to go . all human life is precious and sacred, nobody has a right to take it a way ...be it by the trigger-happy GSU who's been senselessly killing our brothers and sisters in kisumu, kibera or in other places or any other group. We need leaders who can rise up above all this and lead the country forward, by assuring the masses that, kenya is bigger than an individual and that we can do better......who would that be?
